We prioritize healthy foods and snacks. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by chef-trained cafeteria staff. All students will have access to healthy snacks. We work in partnership with a number of community-based organizations for nutrition education and healthy foods.

Our professional staff includes a full-time nurse, counselor, and licensed social worker who provide coordinated services and support for all students and staff. All staff, students, and families work together to create a culture of learning where students excel, build authentic relationships, and have voice and agency.

Nurturing Support Systems

Inner Strength

We employ community building with intrusive advising as a model to provide a structure for nurturing support systems. Advisors teach critical explicit executive function strategies to build students’ self-management skills. Advisors check in, review the previous week, apply executive function skills, establish weekly commitments, and follow up. The advisory course adds an additional layer of support, encouragement, and accountability.

Uniforms

First Uniform Set is Free

Students are required to wear approved uniforms on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

We require uniforms to:

• Encourage the practice of professionalism

• Eliminate academic distractions

• Minimize the effects of socioeconomic disparities

• Promote a safe learning environment for all students

Transportation

On the Go

Based on student needs, AVPA will provide transportation options for students, bus services for SPED students, and transportation for field trips.

To prepare next-generation students to be next-generation leaders, AVPA implements core practices and policies that are focused on collective well-being, community building, building trusting relationships, leadership, explicit and implicit lessons to build students' emotional intelligence and executive function skills, and community/relationship repair and restoration.

Supports for All Learners 

AVPA provides all students with equitable access to high-quality, grade-level content and immersive conservatory experiences. A range of services and supports for diverse learners at AVPA will include Emergent Bilingual, Students with Disabilities, Gifted and Talented, At-Risk, and Section 504.
