We provide rigorous, arts-integrated, project-based learning experiences across content areas. All students participate in shared inquiry and use interdisciplinary problem-solving and
collaboration to connect learning to their prior knowledge and individual backgrounds while learning from one another’s varied perspectives and experiences.
Each conservatory is designed to give students increasingly immersive and focused experiences, allowing students to engage in creative expression in the different art forms. Students receive instruction from AVPA conservatory teachers, professional artists, teaching artists, and through partnerships with local cultural arts community organizations.
In every classroom, well-prepared teachers skillfully implement a variety of differentiated strategies to engage all students with content aligned to the rigor of grade-level standards. Our small class sizes help support student mastery of learning.
We focus on building our student's emotional intelligence and executive function skills through a range of research and evidence-based strategies. When we prioritize our collective well-being, we create a safe, positive, trusting, academically rigorous learning environment that reflects our community’s expectations for a high-quality, excellent education.

Academic Excellence means that all students have personalized learning plans (Navigators) with AI-enhanced, adaptive learning that provides real-time data on student mastery across all content areas. We measure "academic excellence" using multiple evidence-based measures to monitor our students' growth from universal screeners at the beginning of the year throughout the school year.
Student creativity will thrive with more than five hours a week of conservatory programming in visual arts, vocal music, instrumental music, dance, theatre arts, literary arts, and digital media arts, plus two full hours of conservatory programming in Master Classes Wednesday afternoons. There will also be small group lessons and training, field trips, and seminars to round out their development.

All students experience 320+ minutes per week exploring the arts. Students deepen their knowledge, skills, and technical abilities in art forms to prepare for college, career, or the military. Throughout the conservatory experience, students participate in performances, exhibitions, portfolio presentations, competitions, and other experiences to showcase their creativity.
The middle school program is lottery-based with no audition requirements. All students explore creative expression in the art forms. Students are introduced to more sophisticated, specialized artistic techniques based on their levels of readiness and technical knowledge and skills acquisition.
The High School Program is audition-based and provides pre-professional training in dance, digital media arts, literary arts, music, theatre arts, and visual arts. Students may audition for more than one conservatory but must select one art to pursue and be formally admitted into the conservatory program.
