Our Mission

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts provides a safe, challenging learning environment that cultivates our students' academic and artistic excellence. AVPA exists to provide all students with equitable opportunities to learn in the arts and learn through the arts.

Serving Grades 6-8 for 2024-2025

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a tuition-free, open-enrollment grade public charter school that is nestled in South Fort Worth, Texas. In 2024-2025, AVPA will serve students in grades 6-8 and will grow one grade level each year until it reaches capacity with 6th — 12th grades.

Open to All Students

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is tuition-free and open to all students residing in Tarrant County, Texas. There are no audition requirements or expectations of prior experience or exposure to the arts. Our middle school is exploratory, focusing on strengthening academics and building arts competencies. AVPA serves students of all abilities.

Geographic Boundaries

Students must live in Tarrant County, Texas, to be eligible to apply for and attend  Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Students living in the following zip codes have priority admission status: 76102, 76103, 76104, 76105, 76110, 76112, 76115, 76119, 76123, 76133, 76134 and 76140.


Transportation

Free bus transportation is available to fully enrolled students based on availability, distance from school, or as required by a student’s Individualized Education Plan (“IEP”) for a student with disabilities. AVPA prioritizes students living more than 2 miles from school or crossing major roadways.


School Uniforms

All AVPA students are expected to wear approved school uniforms every day. Each Monday, students are required to wear the “professional uniform” - blazer, white oxford/blouse, plaid tie, khaki pants or plaid skirt. On non-formal uniform days (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), students may wear a navy, red, or gold polo shirt and navy or khaki bottoms. Wednesdays are reserved for AVPA “Spirit Days”. Students may wear a AVPA or college t-shirt and jeans.

School Tours

School tours are available on Thursday mornings at 10 am or by appointment by emailing enroll@avpaschools.org.
